Love and Grief on Valentine's Day

Nothing makes sense, you should be here, The table is still set for you. Your chair is there, and you are not,

My heart still broken in two.

The above is from a poem I wrote on my son Derek’s second birthday in heaven. Holidays including Valentine’s Day can feel like a train wreck on your emotions as the grief floods back. While others are celebrating love and joy, those who lost their special person may feel the pull from the undertow as grief washes over us. We wait for the tide to go out so we can feel the beach sand beneath us and a reprieve to rest our tired bodies.

Thinking of all of you who are walking this grief journey with me. Sending you Valentine hearts that hope bring warm thoughts and memories of those beautiful souls that will forever remain in our hearts until we reunite with them again.
